The ‘Floor Target’ is the minimum standards for pupil attainment and / or progress that the Government expects schools to meet.
In 2017 a school will be above the ‘Floor’ if:
- at least 65% of children to achieve expected standard (scaled score 100+) in Reading, Writing and Mathematics combined;
OR
- the school achieves sufficient progress scores in all those three subjects (at least -5 in English Reading, -5 in Mathematics and -7 in English Writing).
The Progress Measure applies to those children who left Year 6 at the end of the previous academic year measured against their SAT scores at the end of Year 2 (end of Key Stage 1). Progress is measured against children nationally with similar attainment at the end of Key Stage 1. A score of 0 means that children have done as well as those with similar prior attainment. A negative score (between -0.1 and -5) means that less progress was made. A positive score (between +0.1 and +5) means that more than expected progress has been made. Our progress figures for our children at the end of Year 6 (Key Stage 2) in 2017 are as follows: Reading +0.92, Writing -0.16, Mathematics -1.49.
