Lunches and Snacks

Lunches

Our school is committed to providing nutritious meals for our students, and we take pride in offering a hot school meals service prepared by Willoughby Foods. These meals are delivered to us in hotboxes, ensuring they remain warm and appetising for the children. Parents are encouraged to select their preferred meal options and make payments through our convenient online portal, where a wide variety of choices is available to cater to different tastes and dietary requirements.

Alternatively, for those parents who prefer to provide a packed lunch, we request their cooperation in adhering to certain guidelines. Due to the presence of children and staff with severe food allergies, there may be restrictions on certain foods, and we kindly ask that children do not swap food items. Additionally, fizzy drinks and energy drinks are not permitted. Please ensure that lunchboxes and all drinking containers (glass or cans are not allowed) are secure. Labelling lunch bags and boxes is also encouraged to assist in identification.

During lunch periods, children are supervised by our dedicated midday team in the Hall and during outdoor play. We are fortunate to have a Lunchtime Play Co-ordinator, who enhances the lunchtime experience by planning and supporting positive play activities in collaboration with the midday supervisors.

We actively encourage families who believe they may be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or Pupil Premium to apply. Eligibility may also grant access to additional advantages, such as free school trips, musical tuition, and essential items of school uniform. For further information regarding eligibility and application, parents can either contact our Office or visit the Lincolnshire County Council. It is important to note that all children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are currently entitled to receive free universal infant meals, should their parents wish to avail themselves of this offer, and we highly encourage participation.

Snacks

We encourage our children to eat healthily and so at break a healthy snack of fruit or vegetable is encouraged (no crisps, chocolate or sweets). At morning snack time, all Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children receive a free piece of fruit each day as part of the ‘School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme’.  This is normally given out prior to, or during, the morning break. Find out more.

There is also a free daily milk scheme for children under 5 and those entitled to Free School Meals. Daily milk is also available with payment for other ages via an online system. Please ask our Office for details. All children are provided with a water bottle when they join our school and have access to water throughout the day.
