Sports Premium

In March 2013 the government announced that it was to provide additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools in England - The Primary PE & Sport Premium.

2015-16 Impact

The school received in total the sum of £6,908 in two instalments in Primary Sports Funding allocation which is below the line and does not form part of the budget return. Funding is based on current entitlement per pupil funding. We were underspent in 2014/15 by £2,377 therefore the available budget was: £9,285

Access to quality PE CPD for staff INSET

Secured PE Sports Service agreement with Skegness Academy to supply bespoke INSET for whole school, and specific areas for teaching and non teaching staff.
Emphasis 2015/16 on developing expertise of cross curricular PE and how to increase pupil physical activity positively at playtimes and lunchtimes.

Audit with TA’s and Teachers prioritise and plan to cover training needs.

Middays, TA’s and Teachers all attended INSET twilight training to explore opportunities to encourage physical activity using simple resources.
Additionally some TA’s, 1:1’s and Middays attended workshops alongside targeted children during the school day to develop skills. Feedback from the training was well received and there has been an evident increase in physical activity over the academic year.

Secured PE Sports Service agreement with Skegness Academy – regular full day training for PE leader – priority driven – areas to be agreed

Training to be disseminated to staff to share skills and knowledge

PE leader and other members of staff have had the opportunity to attend targeted training.

Co-ordinated access to inter-school sport events and competitions

Skegness Academy working with SGO to co-ordinate inter school events.

Termly calendar of sports competitions completed by PE leader and uptake of various groups.

Sports Competition entries have increased this year with over 11 different sports entered across the school (Y1-Y6). See Sports log.

Support for staff PE development alongside skilled teachers (with our teaching staff)

6 weekly blocks of PE teaching alongside our staff to develop skills in teaching –
T1 – Football Y5
T2 – Football Y4
T3 – Dance Y1
T4 – Rugby Y6
T5 – Rounders Y3 and Y3

Evidence of quality delivery of teaching observed by our staff and sharing of skills and confidence to delivery themselves.

Increased staff experience across a range of sports and confidence to deliver. After school extra curricular offer increased to these sports but to other year groups to broaden experience. Positive feedback from children and staff.

Supporting the cost of swimming sessions for all KS2 children (lessons)

Funding of swimming lessons to be met (transport being met by main budget.)

Y3 – Y6 children have all received swimming teaching for more than 6 week block. Evident progress in skills and increase in skills at Swimming Gala competition.

Opportunities for PE leader to conduct lesson observations on quality of PE teaching

“What makes outstanding PE lessons?” Course for whole staff (twilight)
Joint lesson observations with other staff to lead improvements in the quality of PE teaching and inform evaluation processes.

PE leader aware of the standards of teaching in PE across the school to inform next CPD needs more accurately. Overview of standards of PE skills clear.

In its early stages, limited number of observations undertaken due to other school priorities.
